Welcome to Golate Court

If you were any closer, you'd be in the stadium itself!  Most of our Golate Court apartments look right across the road to the Millennium Stadium, perfect for soaking up the atmosphere of the big game.  Whatever the occasion - concert by world famous artists like Madonna or Oasis, international sporting events from the national sport of rugby union to Speedway and big match boxing or unique events like Monster Truck Fest, you'll feel part of it even before leaving your apartment!

Do you fancy something more sedate?  Golate Court is just five minutes walk from Cardiff's famous castle, with its Norman Keep and the sumptuous William Burgess decorations commissioned by the one-time worlds' richest man, the 3rd Marquess of Bute.  Stroll around a corner or two, and sample even more culture at the National Museum of Wales, home to the largest collection of Impressionist paintings outside France.  Otherwise shop-till-you-drop at St David's,the brand new £675m shopping complex just 5 minutes walk from your apartment as are the victorian arcades with boutique outlets.

So the location is great, but what do the apartments provide?

  • Digital TV, DVD and stereo system
  • Fully equipped kitchens, including dishwasher and washer/dryer
  • Full-size steam iron & board
  • Weekly housekeeping service including change of bed linens and provision of fresh towels

Golate Court apartments sleep up to four people and are available in Silver Award standard

Background to Golate Court

The name of this court illustrates one of the more colourful aspects of Cardiff's history.  The River Taff once coursed at the foot of Golate Lane, carrying small ships to the docks beyond.  'The Golate' was the last place a late arrival could catch such a ship - so the person would 'go late'. The modern Bay Water Bus travels the same river today, and can be boarded at the southern side of the Millennium Stadium for transport to the now totally transformed docklands area.

Silver Award

These apartments offer all that you'll find in a Bronze Award apartment, with the addition of more luxurious furnishings and facilities.  Apartments larger than a one-bed, will usually have two bathrooms with one being en-suite with a separate guest bathroom.  The vast majority of our guests consider Silver Award more than sufficient for their needs.

Not yet graded by VisitWales but approximately equivalent to 4 Star self-catering accommodation.
