Welcome to The Brewery Quarter

Overlooking the central piazza of this highly popular bar and restaurant area -  one of Cardiff's liveliest meeting venues.

Set at the south end of St. Mary Street, an entertaining nightlife is guaranteed, with locations such as Nando's, Walkabout, The Yard, Bella Italia, Chiquito's, and La Tassca, all within a hundred yards.

Daytime interest can be served by visiting Cardiff's brand new £675m shopping complex, St David's, or Dewi Sant as it is more locally known.  Adjacent you will find the largest John Lewis store outside Oxford Street, London.  In addition, and within just a few minutes walk, are the many shopping arcades and civic buildings of distinct interest.

So the location is great, but what do the apartments provide?

  • Digital TV, DVD and stereo system
  • Fully equipped kitchens, including dishwasher and washer/dryer
  • Full-size steam iron & board
  • 24/7 security
  • Weekly housekeeping service including change of bed linens and provision of fresh towels

Background to The Brewery Quarter

Constructed on the original 1882 site of the famous Brains Brewery, both developments in this totally reconstructed area  retain the flavour of that industry, being named Dray (after the horses used to pull the beer wagons) and Malt (one of the principal ingredients in the brewing process).  Being set in one of the oldest areas of Cardiff, the surroundings abound with small specialist shops, and some often-overlooked places of historical interest.  The Royal Hotel in St. Mary Street provides an historic example as the location for Captain Scott's last meal with his party before setting off on the ill-fated Antarctic expedition of 1910.  His ship, the Terra Nova, now provides the name for one of the principal restaurants at Mermaid Quay, some 15 minutes walk from the Brewery Quarter location.
